The chemical bonds in CuH, Cu2, NiH, and Ni2 studied with multiconfigurational second order perturbation theory

1994

The performance of multiconfigurational second order perturbation theory has been analyzed for the description of the bonding in CuH, Cu2, NiH, and Ni2. Large basis sets based on atomic natural orbitals (ANOS) were employed. The effects of enlarging the active space and including the core‐valence correlation contributions have also been analyzed. Spectroscopic constants have been computed for the corresponding ground state. The Ni2 molecule has been found to have a 0+g ground state with a computed dissociation energy of 2.10 eV, exp. 2.09 eV, and a bond distance of 2.23 Å. The dipole moments of NiH and CuH are computed to be 2.34 (exp. 2.4±0.1) and 2.66 D, respectively. pou@uv.es ; merchan@…

Full configuration interaction calculation of BeH adiabatic states.

2008

An all-electron full configuration interaction (FCI) calculation of the adiabatic potential energy curves of some of the lower states of BeH molecule is presented. A moderately large ANO basis set of atomic natural orbitals (ANO) augmented with Rydberg functions has been used in order to describe the valence and Rydberg states and their interactions. The Rydberg set of ANOs has been placed on the Be at all bond distances. So, the basis set can be described as 4s3p2d1f3s2p1d(BeH)+4s4p2d(Be). The dipole moments of several states and transition dipole strengths from the ground state are also reported as a function of the R(Be-H) distance. The position and the number of states involved in sever…

A combined theoretical and experimental determination of the electronic spectrum of acetone

1996

A combined ab initio and experimental investigation has been performed of the main features of the electronic spectrum of acetone. Vertical transition energies have been calculated from the ground to the ny→π∗, π→π∗, σ→π∗, and the n=3 Rydberg states. In addition, the 1A1 energy surfaces have been studied as functions of the CO bond length. The 1A1 3p and 3d states were found to be heavily perturbed by the π→π∗ state. Resonant multiphoton ionization and polarization‐selected photoacoustic spectra of acetone have been measured and observed transitions were assigned on internal criteria. The calculated vertical transition energies to the ny→π∗ and all Rydberg states were found to be in agreeme…

Conformational investigation of alpha,beta-dehydropeptides. VIII. N-acetyl-alpha,beta-dehydroamino acid N'-methylamides: conformation and electron de…

2009

The Fourier transform infrared spectra are analyzed in the regions of Vs(N-H), amide I, amide II and Vs(C alpha = C beta) bands for a series of Ac-delta Xaa-NHMe, where delta Xaa = delta Ala, (Z)-delta Abu, (Z)-delta Leu, (Z)-delta Phe and delta Val, to determine the predominant solution conformation of these alpha,beta-dehydropeptide-related molecules and the electron distribution perturbation in their amide bonds. The measurements were performed in dichloromethane (DCM). To confirm and rationalize the assignments, the spectra of the respective series of saturated Ac-Xaa-NHMe, recorded in DCM, and the spectra of these two series of unsaturated and saturated compounds, recorded in acetonitr…

CFRP sheets bonded to natural stone: interfacial phenomena

2004

The effectiveness of the reinforcing technique consisting of fiber reinforced polymer sheets bonded to the structural elements depends on a good connection at the joint. This has to be able to ensure the transfer length of the shear stress in order to avoid a premature failure due to debonding. In this paper, the bond phenomenon at the interface is examined with reference to the calcarenite stone and carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) sheets in order to evaluate the possibility of utilizing this technique on masonry structural members, consisting of calcarenite ashlars and mortar. An experimental investigation is carried out on nine specimens obtained by applying unidirectional CFRP she…
